Spooky sci-fi synth sounds as giant theremin lands
The theremin is one of the earliest electronic instruments, invented by Russian physicists Professor Léon Theremin in the 1920’s.
It uses humans as a part of an electrical circuit, creating tones that are manipulated by human movement.
Fox’s seven metre tall theremin, is based on the same concept, but he says it had to be modified.
“Our research showed that if we were to make a seven metre tall theremin, that was pumping out that sort of elctro magnetic field, we’d probably microwave people, so that wsn’t really practical.”
